2005 $10 Sydney Mint, Sesquicentenary 1855-2005 Silver Proof Coin. This $10 Silver Proof Coin commemorates 150 years since the opening of the Sydney Mint. It was the discovery of gold in NSW and the subsequent black market trade that provoked the colonial government to request the authorisation to create a branch of the British Royal Mint in Sydney to consolidate and maintain the economy. The mint produced Sovereigns and Half Sovereigns, processing the gold from the diggers of NSW and Victoria. Certificate of Authenticity is included with this coin numbered 1810. Mintage 10,000.
