2007 $1 Uncirculated 'The 4th International Polar Year (2007-08). The Royal Australian Mint in conjunction with The Royal Society of Victoria has issued this coin to mark the launch of RSV-Intrepid and The Society's participation in The 4th International Polar Year (2007-08). It shows Australian Antartic Territory and the three continental stations, Mawson, Davis and Casey. The Nimrod is shown which embarked The British Antartic Expedition of 1907-09 and aims to commemorate the polar vessels Discovery and Aurora which sailed during the 'Heroic Age' of Antartic exploration. This coin recognises The Society's involvement in every Polar Year (1882-3, 1932-3, 1957-8, 2007-8) and its connection with Antartic discovery, exploration and science. Mintage of 100 with this coin numbered 11. Certificate included.
