2010 $1 100 Years of Australian Coinage Fine Silver Proof Coin. The Royal Australian Mint has produced this fine silver $1 proof coin to acknowledge with pride the Centenary of Australian coinage. Following Federation and the establishment of our first constitution, the Commonwealth Government set about creating a unified national currency to replace the system inherited from England and in 1910 the first Australian silver coins were issued. Signifying Australia becoming an individual nation, the threepences, sixpences, shillings and florins helped our nation to emerge from dependence on the British. Certificate of Authenticity is included with this coin numbered 7038. Mintage 12,500.
