2018 Uncirculated Year Set-Armistice, One Hundred Years On. On 11 November 1918 the allied nations signed an Armistice with Germany that brought an end to the fighting on the Western Front. After two and a half years of bitter fighting in France and Belgium, Australian troops had already fought their last action of the war. Australia made a substantial contribution to the success of the allied forces, but the cost of victory was borne in staggering losses. The Royal Australian Mint commemorates the centenary of the Armistice with this moving year set featuring a specially designed $1 coin featuring poppies blooming above buried cartridges.
